Kung Fu Billiards in Virginia Beach: Up your game with Ving Tsun

Moy Tung Ving Tsun Kung Fu can improve your skill at Billiards (Pool), giving you greater success and enjoyment of the game. Ving Tsun martial arts training develops awareness and understanding of your body's centerlines, giving you greater control over body and limb positioning and motion. It improves relaxation and breath-control, as well as clarity, focus and problem-solving skills. The body's muscles are strengthened in specific ways, training them to work together in a way that allows you to channel great force with precision. The system teaches practitioners fundamental principles for effective training and combat which can be applied to any competitive activity, even if it's solo. This system of training was designed to train people to fight efficiently and effectively in a short amount of time, but the training and fighting principles and skills apply as well to Pool - or any game, sport or physical activity.

See below for some pics from today's trip to Virginia Beach, where Grandmaster Moy Tung, disciple of the late great Moy Yat (himself a sharp Pool player), caught up with some of the Virginia Beach students in his kung fu lineage. Four Ving Tsun kung fu generations are represented in these photos; Moy Tung, plus a student, grandstudent and great-grandstudent. The details may not be obvious to non-Ving Tsun practitioners, but students of Moy Tung will see Ving Tsun details in the way he plays the game.

These photos are also an example of kung fu life, a concept Grandmaster Moy Yat practiced and taught. He, like his own sifu Yip Man and the masters before him, devoted his life to the study and promotion of the martial art of Ving Tsun Kung Fu. Much kung fu is passed on informally - when spending time hanging out, a student may see or hear some detail that makes a big difference in their practice. Kung Fu means 'time and energy' or 'hard work' - training is hard work, and we work hard, but it's also important to rest, relax and spend time enjoying the company of one's sifu - or grandmaster or great-grandmaster, and having fun.
